Elokuun viimeisenä maanantaina Iltarasteilla suunnistetaan Velskolan komeissa maisemissa David Farkasin suunnittelemilla radoilla. Tarjolla on kuusi ratavaihtoehtoa 2 km radasta pitkään 9 km rataan. Osalla radoista voi ohi mennessään piipahtaa Espoon korkeimmalla kohdalla Mustakorven kalliolla. Noin 200 metrin päässä Saarijärven rannasta sijaitseva mäki on korkeimmillaan 114,2 metriä merenpinnan yläpuolella.
Kartanmyynti on Espoon seurakuntien toimintakeskuksen pihalla ja pysäköinti pääasiassa läheisellä pellolla Velskolantien varressa. Navigointiosoite Vääräjärventie 2, Espoo. Kartanmyynti klo 16:30 – 19:00 ja maali sulkeutuu klo 20:00.

“Welcome to Velskola, We arrived to the date of my yearly Iltarasti. I usually like to take the terrain at Solvalla, and do something unusual with the courses, some twist or an interesting theme.
Last year the amount of forbidden area for control placing was so high there, that I could hardly craft a decent course, so I decided to switch to another terrain. Sadly yet again I was frustrated by rules that made 90% of the interesting parts of the map unavailable for control placing. On the top of that in Velskola the start and finish is on one end of the map, not in the middle, so it’s even harder to pull off anything extravagant.
Still, even that my courses are just standard orienteering courses, it is worth the visit on the comping Monday or during the week. The terrain is beautiful, and there are technically fun parts. The shorter legs are maybe a bit harder than usual as the path system is not too rich, and on the longer legs I made extra effort on hiding controls from the running direction, so you should see the object first on most places then the control.
